01Quartz sand crushing process

The quartz sand crushing process is mainly to separate the quartz sand from other gangue minerals through crushing.Generally use three crushing process, respectively, coarse, medium and fine crushing process.

Coarse crushing of quartz sand: jaw crusher is often used for coarse crushing in this operation. The mined quartz sand ore is fed into the jaw crusher for crushing. The ore is crushed to about 25mm, and then sent to the screening machine by the belt conveyor for screening. The ore particles ( > 25mm) above the sieve are re-crushed in the jaw crusher, while the ore particles( < 25mm) below the sieve are sent to the middle crushing process by the belt feeder.

Secondary crushing of quartz sand: When the quartz sand is crushed, it is generally possible to use a hammer crusher for secondary crushing, and sometimes a jaw crusher is used. After coarse crushing, the product is crushed by a hammer crusher, and the particle size of the product is in the range of 15mm. The ore particles larger than this size continue to be crushed, and the ore particles smaller than this size enter the fine crushing operation.

Fine crushing of quartz sandCone crusher is generally used for fine crushing. Because the cone crusher has the advantages of fine crushing particle size, uniform particle size and large processing capacity, it can usually crush the ore particles finely to less than 9mm. The crushed to qualified materials are sent to the grinding operation by the belt feeder to further realize the dissociation of monomers.

02Quartz Sand Wet Grinding-Classification Process

The crushed and qualified materials are sent to the rod mill for grinding. The ground fine-grained materials are fed into the desliming bucket for desliming and dehydration. Then the material is fed into a cylindrical screen (or hydraulic classifier) for classification. The coarse sand with particle size over 0.425mm is returned to the rod mill for regrinding. The particle size of 0.106~0.425mm is qualified product, and the fine sand less than 0.106mm is removed as tailings.

03Quartz sand iron removal (magnetic separation) process

The main purpose of the magnetic separation process of quartz sand is to remove iron impurities dissociated during the rod grinding process, such as limonite, hematite, biotite and tourmaline and other weak magnetic minerals. Medium-strength magnetic separation process is often used.

The qualified products after classification are sent to the drum-type permanent magnetic separator for medium-strength magnetic separation. Its field strength is 0.6T. The quartz sand obtained after magnetic separation also contains a small amount of impurities such as weak magnetic iron oxide. Therefore, you also need to use a high gradient magnetic separator (the magnetic field strength is about 13,000 oersteds) for strong magnetic separation to completely remove iron impurities and achieve quartz sand purification.
