Uzbekistan, 28 July – Xinhai Mining Group has reached a key construction milestone on its 1 million tonnes per annum tungsten tailings project in Uzbekistan, with the official start of mechanical installation works. The project has now transitioned from civil construction to the equipment installation phase.

The project involves reprocessing approximately 8 million tonnes of tungsten tailings. The flowsheet is based primarily on gravity separation, with Xinhai’s technical team developing a tailored process incorporating staged gravity separation combined with reverse flotation for desulfurization. This approach maximises tungsten recovery while minimising energy consumption.

Under the EPC+M+O contract, Xinhai Mining is delivering the full project scope, including metallurgical testwork, process and engineering design, equipment supply and procurement, civil construction, installation, and commissioning. The integrated model enables seamless coordination across all disciplines. Civil works commenced in April, equipment was shipped on schedule in May, and installation began in July, demonstrating strong project execution capabilities.

On 20 July, a delegation led by the Deputy Minister of Mining of Uzbekistan visited the site and commended the rapid progress and professional performance of the Xinhai project team.

To address the extreme summer heat in Uzbekistan, Xinhai implemented an innovative spray cooling system with misting units deployed across work areas. The solution has reduced ambient temperatures in the working zones by more than 10°C while supporting effective concrete curing, enabling safe and productive operations during peak summer conditions.

The 1 Mtpa tungsten tailings project represents another successful deployment of Xinhai’s full-value-chain mining services model in Central Asia. By integrating testwork, design, equipment, construction, and operational readiness, Xinhai continues to deliver efficient project execution and technical solutions that enhance resource recovery for its clients.
