Silica sand, also known as quartz sand, is a common non-metallic mineral raw material. After mineral processing and purification, it can become high-purity and ultra-high-purity quartz sand. At this time, the material can be widely used in high-tech fields such as aerospace, atomic energy technology, laser, optical cable communication, and military industry. With the continuous advancement of science and technology, the demand for high-tech silicon has increased year by year. In order to meet the demand for materials in these industries, it is of great practical significance to actively promote and improve the silica sand beneficiation and purification technology. Xinhai Mining has more than 20 years of practical experience in silica sand beneficiation plant design, equipment production and mineral application, and has accumulated many successful cases of silica sand beneficiation plants. The following will introduce you to the commonly used beneficiation equipment and beneficiation methods for silica sand beneficiation and the cases of Xinhai quartz sand beneficiation plant.
The success of silica sand beneficiation operations must rely on efficient beneficiation equipment. According to the function and process flow, the equipment is classified into crushing equipment, screening equipment, ore washing equipment, grinding equipment, concentration equipment, etc. The following introduces several common silica sand beneficiation equipment.
Silica sand beneficiation methods can be divided into physical beneficiation methods and chemical beneficiation methods. Aiming at the actual production application, we mainly introduce you to several physical beneficiation methods.
The silica grade in quartz sand determines the quality of the final product, but the silica grade will gradually decrease as the quartz sand particle size becomes finer, while the grade of metal minerals such as impurity minerals such as iron and aluminum will gradually increase, especially for quartz sand containing a large amount of clay. Therefore, it is necessary to wash and grade the silica sand ore before mineral processing, and the effect of improving the grade of quartz sand is particularly obvious.
The surface of silica sand will be attached with thin film iron, bonding, mud impurities and mineral aggregates that have not completed monomer dissociation. These substances need to be removed by mechanical force and the abrasive force between sand particles, and then the quartz sand is further purified through the classification process. The silica sand scrubbing technologies currently used are mechanical scrubbing and rod scrubbing, among which rod scrubbing has better effect. When performing rod scrubbing, adding appropriate agents can improve the separation effect of impurity minerals and quartz particle surface.
The magnetic separation process can remove weakly magnetic impurity minerals such as hematite, limonite and biotite, including intergrowth particles in quartz sand as much as possible. When performing strong magnetic separation, the beneficiation plant often uses wet strong magnetic separation or high gradient magnetic separator. When the impurity minerals of silica sand are weakly magnetic impurity minerals such as limonite, hematite and biotite, they are generally treated with a wet strong magnetic separator of more than 10,000 Oersted, while the impurities are strong magnetic minerals such as magnetite, weak magnetic separators or medium magnetic separators are used for separation.
When there are many impurities in the silica sand ore, the above process alone cannot purify the quartz sand to high-purity quartz sand. Therefore, in order to further improve the purity of quartz sand and remove impurities, flotation process can be selected. Positive flotation process can be used to treat quartz sand containing metal minerals, reverse flotation process is often used to make high-purity quartz sand, anion flotation method is suitable for removing iron-containing minerals and aluminum minerals in quartz sand, and cationic flotation method can remove impurity minerals such as feldspar and mica in quartz sand. Sometimes, in order to further improve the flotation efficiency and accuracy, combined flotation method is also used to treat quartz sand with more complex mineral composition.
